The Nashwauk Area Community Fund joins the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation in the Annual Grant Cycle each year. Last year, the Nashwauk Area Community Fund provided 13 grants totaling over $24,000 to their community.
This $1,000 grant to Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Shelf is the most recent, in a long line of grants that provide help for Nashwauk Area residents who are experiencing food insecurity. For the past 20 years, the Nashwauk Area Community Fund has been an advocate for the health and well-being of every community member, understanding that sometimes barriers and circumstances arise where we all need help. Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Shelf is a big part of insuring no one goes hungry.

Fresh and Healthy Food for All
The mission of Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Shelf is to solicit and provide food without prejudice to those in need residing in the surrounding areas of Nashwauk. This includes those in short-term need situations.
The Food Shelf volunteers help distribute fresh produce, bread, dairy, meat and packaged food to residents-in-need throughout the surrounding area. Their goal is to provide clients a diet that is as balanced as possible. This grant allows Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Shelf to supplement what they receive from Second Harvest North Central Food Bank, so that essential vitamins and minerals are included in the food their clients receive.
